Oklahoma built a solid lead by halftime and did not let it slip this time. Regular season MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was again the top performer for Mark Daigneault’s team. Gilgeous-Alexander received strong from Jalen Williams (19 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds) and Chet Holmgren (15 points and 6 rebounds). In addition to Caruso, Aaron Wiggins came off the bench strong with 5 three-pointers and a total of 18 points. Oklahoma took control early and gradually extended their lead. Although all five Indiana starters finished with double-digit scoring, the team looked disorganised on offence. Oklahoma continued its trend of responding to a loss with a dominant win. The host’s star added 8 assists and 5 rebounds to his 34-point tally, while veteran Alex Caruso contributed 20 points.
Indiana had a few bright moments in the second half but could not challenge the hosts seriously. Game 1 hero Tyrese Haliburton got going too late, but still led the Pacers with 17 points. Myles Turner scored 16, and Pascal Siakam added 15.
The visitors had huge problems against Oklahoma’s aggressive defence and were held to just 38.7% shooting in the first three quarters. OKC showed significant improvement from the free-throw line compared to Friday’s game, and Mark Daigneault’s players also grabbed more rebounds.
